ENERGISATION ACHIEVED!
The Kaban Green Power Hub celebrated a key milestone on Tuesday 4 October 2022: it achieved energisation and connected to Queensland’s new SuperGrid.
Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk, Deputy Premier Steven Miles and Minister for Energy and Renewables Mick de Brenni visited the Kaban Green Power Hub project site to commemorate this occasion.
Neoen was delighted to have Nan Lillian Freeman and Aunty Vivian Woods from the Jirrbal people (the Traditional Owners of the lands on which the wind farm is located), join us on this special day and deliver a Welcome to Country.
This is a big achievement for the project as it rolls through its construction phase. With 16 out of 28 turbines installed, the Kaban wind farm is on track to be operational from next year.
Neoen Managing Director Louis de Sambucy said “We are extremely proud of Kaban’s role as the cornerstone project of Queensland’s first Renewable Energy Zone, and we are delighted to have reached this important milestone of first energisation. I’d like to thank the Queensland Government and CleanCo for their vision and support, and Powerlink for their hard work and commitment in delivering the essential transmission infrastructure.
The team is now entirely focused on the successful completion of the project over coming months, and we are looking forward to playing our part in the State’s transition to 50% renewables by 2030.”
